Kaine’s last ever rehearsal at Pioneer Music

Kaine’s regular rehearsal rooms, Pioneer Music in Colchester have now closed after 13 years of service to local bands and musicians. It is an end of an era for the band who will be returning to rehearsal in a few weeks to resume work on the bands new album.

“Hi all, to those who don’t already know, I am closing Pioneer Music in the next week or so.

I’ve been thinking about moving on for a couple of years now, and having a pretty empty studio for almost a year has helped me make that final decision.

I’d like to thank everyone for their support over the past 13 years, I won’t start naming names because there are so many and I am bound to forget important ones!

Also I’d like to wish everyone good luck with their future plans, whether it is music or not, I wish you all the very best. It’s been a blast and I have tons of great memories of working with you all, for which I am eternally grateful.

Kaine started rehearsing at Pioneer Music back in 2011 and every line-up of the band has rehearsed there, bar the original since the original band formed in 2009. We would like to thank Maz for his many years of excellent service to the local music community as well as treating us exceptionally over the past ten years, which included collecting Liam’s keys from the roof of Bartech!

The brand new Waystone EP and Patreon shirts along with all other orders will be shipped next week.

Due to a recent influx of sales we have only a limited number of some merch/music items left. The majority of these items will not be made or printed again. The Waystone album will become a Bandcamp members exclusive album (much like the band’s debut Falling Through Freedom) once it has sold out on CD. The digital version of A Crisis of Faith will remain on some streaming platforms once the CD’s and Vinyl have sold out. The Waystone EP, Kaine X Live, Reforge The Steel Live, and A Crisis of Faith live will also not be printed again once the remaining CD’s have sold out and will become Bandcamp members exclusives, except for the Waystone EP which will remain on some streaming sites.

TWO YEARS SINCE REFORGE THE STEEL LINE-UP WAS FORMED

Today marks the second anniversary of the Reforge The Steel line-up of the band being formed. Shortly after the release of the A Crisis of Faith album the members from that line-up swiftly departed leaving the bands future in the balance.

Fortunately, members were recruited in relatively quick succession with Liam Etheridge joining in mid-April with Toby Woods and Isaac Healy following in May. The band played their first gig together on May 26th 2018 and have since gone on to play 43 gigs together having played major venues such as Portman Road, Colchester Arts Centre and The Dome in London.

In 2019 the band released a brand-new album called Reforge The Steel they began recording in late 2018 just a few months after the formation of the new line-up. They also released the live album and DVD Kaine X from the bands 10-year anniversary performance at Colchester Arts Centre.  There is a new EP and Live Album also in the works from the line-up as well as plans for another full-length album.

Reforged In Faith Album releasing Friday May 1st, 2020

We’ve decided to do something a bit different for the forthcoming Bandcamp sale and offer a unique compilation album for 1 day only for just £5 to try and encourage more people to buy the music and hear our most recent albums. Reforged In Faith is a digital only compilation album featuring a combination of tracks from A Crisis of Faith (2018) and Reforge The Steel (2019).

The compilation will go on sale on Friday, May 1st 2020. It will also be available to our members and in the full digital discography special price for that day. If you have not bought these albums previously this is an opportunity to own both in a unique compilation for a reduced price.

The artwork is taken from The Seventh Seal, a 1957 Swedish historical fantasy film written and directed by Ingmar Bergman on which the track A Night Meets Death is loosely based. Disillusioned knight Antonius Block and his cynical squire Jöns return from the Crusades to find the country ravaged by the plague. The knight encounters Death, whom he challenges to a chess match, believing he can survive as long as the game continues.

BANDCAMP SALE! Friday, May 1st!

[A few Fridays ago, we waived our revenue share to help artists and labels impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic. The Bandcamp community went above and beyond, spending $4.3 million on music and merch in just 24 hours. It was an inspiring day, and we heard many requests to do it again, so we’re going to do exactly that (and a bit more).

We’ll announce the details of this initiative to everyone next Monday, but we wanted to give our artists and labels a heads up that the first step is coming soon: on Friday, May 1st, we’re going to waive our revenue share again. Stay tuned for more information next week, and be sure to check out our new Bandcamp Artist Guide for recommendations that will help you maximize your sales on May 1st and beyond.]

We’ll be again passing on the discounts on Friday, May 1st 2020 when Bandcamp drops their fees in support of artists again. We do remind people that there will be delays to orders during the lock down period but we will ensure everything will get to you as soon as possible and that digital items are available with every purchase in the meantime. Members will be able to double their discounts.

Liam Etheridge – 2 Years in Kaine

Liam Etheridge has now been the drummer in Kaine for 2 years, originally replacing Chris MacKinnon in what was essentially the Crisis of Faith line-up before the band was reformed a month later. He played his first gig with Kaine at The Dev on the 20th of April 2018 and would only play 1 more gig with that line-up (May 4th 2018 at Voodoo Lounge, Stamford) before one final transitional gig with Toby Woods on lead guitar and Stephen Ellis on bass at The Smokehouse, Ipswich on May 19th.

Liam has since recorded and released the Reforge The Steel album with the band, as well as appearing on the Kaine X Live album and DVD. He has also performed drums on the delayed Waystone EP and Reforge The Steel live album. Both projects are on hold due to corona virus and the UK lock down measures.
