KAINE REACHING THE END OF REHEARSAL STAGES – PREPARATIONS HAVE BEGUN TO RECORD THE NEW ALBUM

Last weeks session at Unit One

Last week the band finished the studio scratch tracks for the 9 songs that will feature of the bands, yet to be titled, brand new album. Drummer Liam Etheridge also recently purchased all of the breakables required to begin tracking the new album and will be looking to be booking into the studio to begin recording the new album as soon as possible.

The band will be heading to Unit One Studio’s in Colchester today to continue rehearsing the brand new songs and preparing to play them live from May onwards. There is still some work to do on lyrics/vocal melodies for the new record.

Finally, in case you missed it, the band released a 12 track EP this week which is limited to just 100 copies on CD. Once these have sold out the EP will become a Bandcamp members exclusive. You can pre-order the CD with a limited edition shirt in your size here.

SCRATCH TRACKS COMPLETE AS KAINE PREPARES TO RECORD 5TH ALBUM + EP UPDATE

April 4ths Rehearsals

Kaine has finally recorded all of the scratch tracks and is now ready to book into the studio to begin recording their 5th album, and the second from the “Reforge The Steel” line-up of Sadler/Etheridge/Woods/Healy. The album will have 9 new tracks written by all members of the band. The album has been postponed several times due to the Covid-19 pandemic, however the band is hopeful that the album can be recorded without further delay with vaccination rates increasing and the infection rates decreasing across the board in England.

The scratch tracks are the base tracks the band will record to in the studio, so its important that these are absolutely accurate to make the recording process as smooth and accurate as possible.

On the EP, which was recorded by back in December, the second version has finally been mixed and the release is now ready to be printed to CD. The EP will contain 2 versions, the first being the “Gallow Wood” mix by Talon Payne and the second is the “Twisted Illusion” mix by Matt Jones with both mixes being very different from one another.

The band now has six dates for 2021 which are as follows:

BACK IN UNIT ONE TODAY TO WORK ON NEW KAINE ALBUM

Last weeks session

Kaine are back in the studio today to work on their brand new album. Over the last few weeks the band has been working on getting tighter and more familiar with the new songs following the break due to COVID-19. Lyrics and vocals have also been worked on in recent weeks as the band prepares to begin recording the album as soon as possible.

KAINE BACK IN THE STUDIO TODAY + FACEBOOK AND EP UPDATE

Last weeks sessions at Unit One

Today the band will continue working on the new album at Unit One studios. Kaine is now making good progress and should be on track to begin recording the new album soon. In last weeks sessions the band began to work on the vocals and backing vocals for “Train” as well as the new song “Green to Grey”, and more work was done to the lyrics plus vocal melodies in the week. They also finished the full structure for “Green to Grey” in the session and the album is starting to take shape.

In other news, previous “likes” have been encouraged to follow the bands Facebook page following Facebook’s platform alterations meaning all likes were deleted last week from the band page.

Finally, the first mix from the Matt Jones (of Twisted Illusion fame) version of the forthcoming EP was reviewed and further revisions are being worked on ready for the release. The EP will be a two CD release featuring two versions of the EP.

KAINE NEW ALBUM + EP UPDATE

I am writing this blog as a general update on what we’re doing as a band and where we are at with the new album.

We actually began writing this new album during the rehearsals for Reforge The Steel, with the song “Train” being written during those sessions and even played live back in 2019. We started writing and putting together a big chunk of the album in 2019 after Reforge The Steel was recorded and between working on The Waystone anniversary EP.

We were making good progress with the Waystone EP and the new album until the COVID-19 pandemic hit early on in 2020 and we have had to suspend the recording of the album and do the remaining work on the Waystone EP as and when it was safe and legal to do so. The album initially was suspended on April 4th last year, until August most recently on January 6th 2021 before resuming at the end of February. Despite all of the delays the band is reasonably back on track and all we need to complete now is three remaining scratch tracks for the studio, get a few tracks up to speed in rehearsal, along with revising/wringing of the lyrics and vocal melodies. There is however a large amount of material that is unfortunately unused for this album due to the delays which we will revisit later.

Unlike Reforge The Steel which was largely written by myself immediately after the A Crisis of Faith line-up split, this album has song writing contributions from every member of the band as well as a number of songs we wrote together in rehearsals. So far we have exciting song names such as Chasing the Train, I’m in a Bath (Swedish Bath time), Stainkiller, Cheesy, Bright, Isaac, Green to Grey, Malwarenius and Steggameth (or Megasteph) as working titles for the tracks, most of which will likely change before the album is released.

On the new Kaine EP. The bulk of the tracks were recorded at The Smokehouse in Ipswich at the December livestream with additional tracking done at Gallow Wood Media at the back end of 2020 and then again this month to complete the release. The EP is mixed and mastered from the Gallow Wood end of things but a second disc of mixes by Matt Jones of Twisted Illusion from the same sessions is currently being worked on for the release.

We have also been uploading regular practice footage and a weekly Podcast onto YouTube to keep people engaged and updated during the pandemic, we’ve given our logo a facelift and have a new shirt/patch design on Patreon. We’ll also be recording an EP later this year for our 2021 Patreon subscribers.

In short this year we should hopefully see the release of a brand new Kaine album and two EP’s! I am very sorry about the delay and I hope you enjoy the final products. In other good news we have two gigs booked for 2021 one in May in Ipswich which is nearly sold out, and one in July which is in Colchester.

In the meantime stay safe and we’ll see you soon!
