My pick of the week was pretty easy this time round. The new Warbringer was the only album that really came close to topping it but Iโve gravitated back to this album so much more often. Iโve been a fan of this side project from Haken guitarist Charlie Griffiths since the debut album was released back in 2022.
BAND CHARTED AND DIDN’T NOTICE FOR NEARLY 3 YEARS – ALBUM REACHED 85 ON THE TOP 100
UK Metal act Kaine discovered this week that the band's album After Extinction, released on September 19, 2022, made the official album download charts (29/9/22), reaching 85 on the top 100 and finishing ahead of acts such as Coldplay, Ed Sheeran, Fleetwood Mac, Madonna, and the Eagles that week. The band was unaware of this achievement for two and a half years until it was highlighted to them just this week after their return to rehearsals announcement.
KAINE RETURNS TO REHEARSALS AND RESUMES WORK ON NEXT STUDIO RELEASE
The band is already preparing for two shows later this year, the first supporting NWOBHM legends Desolation Angels at the Cart & Horses, London (birthplace of Iron Maiden) on July 19th, and the second a festival slot in North Essex in August which is yet to be formally announced. For both shows, Kaine will be playing a full-on NWOTHM set with songs taken from all of their albums, Falling Through Freedom (2012), The Waystone (2014), A Crisis of Faith (2018), Reforge The Steel (2019) as well as 2022โs After Extinction.
KAINE TO SUPPORT NWOBHM LEGENDS AT THE BIRTHPLACE OF IRON MAIDEN
Desolation Angels were formed in 1981 by guitarist Keith Sharp, releasing their demos in 1981 and 1982. The band's self-titled debut album was released in 1986 (re-released in 2019 by Dissonance Productions), with Desolation Angels moving to America (Los Angeles, California) in 1987, releasing their follow-up album While The Flame Still Burns in 1990. The current incarnation of Desolation Angels features an all-star line-up of some of the best British and NWOBHM-era performers in Clive Pearson, Chris Takka, Paul Taylor & Richie Yeates.
LIAMโS LISTENING ROOM – 14/3/25
There were a few solid releases that came out this past week, but the biggest standout for me was Whitechapelโs latest offering, โHymns in Dissonanceโ. I am not a Deathcore fan, and I am extremely picky when it comes to what I consider to be good Deathcore.
KAINE TO RETURN TO NWOTHM ROOTS
The band has listened to the request for these tracks to return to the set, and now that the band's โExtinctionโ era promoting the After Extinction album and EPs has concluded, it was felt this was the perfect time to bring these songs back to the live performances. Kaine has also reverted to using its original logo for the time being.
