LIAMโ€™S LISTENING ROOM – 25/3/25

My pick of the week was pretty easy this time round. The new Warbringer was the only album that really came close to topping it but Iโ€™ve gravitated back to this album so much more often. Iโ€™ve been a fan of this side project from Haken guitarist Charlie Griffiths since the debut album was released back in 2022.

A SLAVE TO THE GRIND SINGLE BREAKS 61K STREAMS

The lead single off our After Extinction album has broken 61,068 streams across all platforms including, YouTube, Spotify, Bandcamp, Amazon, Apple Music, and more. ย This is a huge achievement for a band our size and we appreciate everyone who has taken the time to listen to the track so far.

OPINION PIECE: SOMETHING NEEDS TO CHANGE IN METAL/ROCK JOURNALISM

The media outlets will argue, well we post and write about this stuff because thatโ€™s what people engage with, but itโ€™s almost all negative, whether it is people arguing over whether Sleep Token is the next big thing, how much they hate the latest Ghost single, or a falling out between the members of Journey. ย But this negative content is pretty much all they write about, and itโ€™s to win at algorithms and not contribute anything substantial to heavy music, or even the debate. They pander to the angry, not the interested.

Feature on Toby Woods [KAINE – LEAD GUITAR/BACKING VOCALS]

I started off as a fan of the band. I had all the albums before I joined so when the opportunity to join came up I jumped at it. I was rehearsing the songs in-between giving guitar lessons at the primary school that I teach at. I wanted to make sure I knew them as well as I could for my "informal audition".
