The Underground Power EU print of A Crisis of Faith has sold out in the UK. The album was written between 2015-2017 and recorded in 2017 for a 2018 release and is the only studio release from that era of the band. The live album version recently sold out on CD as well. The album is still available in it’s UK format on CD and vinyl from here.
The Underground Power CD’s were only available in a limited run in the UK and have now sold out for good. Some copies are still available online some of which can be found here.
I am writing this blog as a general update on what we’re doing as a band and where we are at with the new album.
We actually began writing this new album during the rehearsals for Reforge The Steel, with the song “Train” being written during those sessions and even played live back in 2019. We started writing and putting together a big chunk of the album in 2019 after Reforge The Steel was recorded and between working on The Waystone anniversary EP.
We were making good progress with the Waystone EP and the new album until the COVID-19 pandemic hit early on in 2020 and we have had to suspend the recording of the album and do the remaining work on the Waystone EP as and when it was safe and legal to do so. The album initially was suspended on April 4th last year, until August most recently on January 6th 2021 before resuming at the end of February. Despite all of the delays the band is reasonably back on track and all we need to complete now is three remaining scratch tracks for the studio, get a few tracks up to speed in rehearsal, along with revising/wringing of the lyrics and vocal melodies. There is however a large amount of material that is unfortunately unused for this album due to the delays which we will revisit later.
Unlike Reforge The Steel which was largely written by myself immediately after the A Crisis of Faith line-up split, this album has song writing contributions from every member of the band as well as a number of songs we wrote together in rehearsals. So far we have exciting song names such as Chasing the Train, I’m in a Bath (Swedish Bath time), Stainkiller, Cheesy, Bright, Isaac, Green to Grey, Malwarenius and Steggameth (or Megasteph) as working titles for the tracks, most of which will likely change before the album is released.
On the new Kaine EP. The bulk of the tracks were recorded at The Smokehouse in Ipswich at the December livestream with additional tracking done at Gallow Wood Media at the back end of 2020 and then again this month to complete the release. The EP is mixed and mastered from the Gallow Wood end of things but a second disc of mixes by Matt Jones of Twisted Illusion from the same sessions is currently being worked on for the release.
We have also been uploading regular practice footage and a weekly Podcast onto YouTube to keep people engaged and updated during the pandemic, we’ve given our logo a facelift and have a new shirt/patch design on Patreon. We’ll also be recording an EP later this year for our 2021 Patreon subscribers.
In short this year we should hopefully see the release of a brand new Kaine album and two EP’s! I am very sorry about the delay and I hope you enjoy the final products. In other good news we have two gigs booked for 2021 one in May in Ipswich which is nearly sold out, and one in July which is in Colchester.
A Crisis of Faith Live has finally sold out on CD. The band will not be reprinting any more of these and the digital version of the album will become a members only release on Bandcamp which can be accessed here. The album was recorded live at the Asylum Chelmsford by Short Stack studios and features the A Crisis of Faith album in full and includes two tracks from The Waystone that features founding members of the band Dan Mailer and Josh Moreton.
The album, originally released in 2014 has sold out for the 4th and final time on CD with vinyl version having sold out a number of years ago. A full statement on how many copies were sold/streamed will be released at a later date. The Waystone is Kaine’s best selling album and best known for the lead single “Iron Lady”.
There will be no further print runs of this album, it has been removed from digital platforms and will become a Bandcamp Members only release which can be found here along with many other exclusives including the bands debut album Falling Through Freedom, which is also no longer available to buy. Some copies remain on re-sellers sites such as Discogs which can be found here.
The band re-recorded for of the songs from the album for a limited edition EP release which can still be bought on CD here. Less than a 100 copies remain to buy on CD. A handful of Waystone patches are also available to order here. Both of these were released to celebrate the 5 year anniversary of the original album.

Saxon Davids performed in Kaine between 2014 and 2018, first appearing on the bands tour with Mordred stepping in to fill in for Ant Murch on lead guitar. He then remained with the band as a five piece until 2016 when the band reverted back to being a four piece once more. He appears on the later pressings of The Waystone and wrote and recorded the most recent album A Crisis of Faith with the band before departing earlier this year.
Kaine recently released A Crisis of Faith live, the final release to feature Saxon on lead guitar which can be ordered from the shop link above.
Stephen Ellis has posted his official leaving statement following lats nights announcement that he was leaving the band alongside Saxon Davids.
I thought I should post something regarding the reasons I left and the future.
First of all; Rage, Chris and Saxman are still my best friends, that hasn’t changed. There was no fallout, I just felt that this time was right to go. I didn’t want to leave the band, financially and musically I am in the best condition I have been in years but Chris leaving was the catalyst. Despite Liam coming in and doing a fantastic job, I felt like the chemistry the 4 of us had was what drove the band forward the last few years. Then Saxon decided to leave due to personal reasons yesterday and it felt that even if I stayed it would not be the same band as before, without those 2 it would feel very alien. So Rage offered me a chance to walk as well, I took the offer.
I love what we accomplished these last few years, the last album was as good as it could have been. I thank the fans that have stayed with us and the ones we have made along the way, you have my eternal gratitude.
Looking to the future I look to hopefully continue music, Matt and I have a collab album coming out soon and I am looking at working with some fantastic musicians in the future. I am still playing all the dates with Kaine until they have found a replacement.
Good luck to Rage at continuing this band forward, I have never met someone with more passion for what they do than this man.
Thank you for everything, – Stevo
New drummer Liam Etheridge responded with the following statement.
After hearing the news late last night i still haven’t really gotten over the shock of it. I honestly never thought that either of them would leave, and i am truly gutted that they are. That being said, it’s been a real honour to play with them for the short time that i have been. Stephen and Saxon are 2 of the best musicians I’ve ever played with, and i look forward to whatever musical adventures they go onto next. Nothing but love for these guys, and i just wanna say thank you for the good times that we’ve had so far, and also thank you for the good times that will come at our remaining gigs together. I’ll be honest, I currently have no idea how Rage and i will be able to replace you, but these things happen in the music business, and i have every faith in Rage and I’m sure that we will be up and running again with a brand new lineup sooner rather than later. Let’s get out there and absolutely smash it out the park with the gigs we have left this year, starting with Stamford tomorrow night! -Liam

Kaine has begun recording vocals at Pointy Halo Productions at Red Wall Studios, with a number of lead and backing vocals completed this past weekend with more to be recorded in the coming weeks. The band is putting extra emphasis on vocals for the new record and hope that the performances from the band will be the best yet.
On top of recording the vocals, this weekend all of the guitars recorded for A Crisis of Faith were reamped and re-recorded for the album to be added to the final mix to add yet more weight to the guitars on the album. The album is already sounding huge with the Blackstar HT Metal 100 head delivering a great sound throughout the record.
To see a preview of the vocals being recorded and the guitars being reamped please check the video below.
